Phosphatidylcholine (PPC) is a purified extract form Lecithin. Lecithin is a well-known medication used in the treatment of both heart and liver disease. In 2005, PPC was mentioned in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. It stated that Phosphatidylcholine treatment includes lipolysis, the breaking down of fat in the body. According to the data, PPC is acting as an emulsifying agent such as surfactant inside the body. This means PPC helps and activates other materials such as L-Carnitine, Sodium Deoxycolate, and caffeine to act on lipolysis directly. PPC allows these substances to break down fat cells more effectively. However, there is no evidence that PPC acts on lipolysis directly.

There have been many studies in the localized treatment of fat using PPC. PPC injections have been duly recognized in the United States after a clinical paper announced the effectiveness of PPC in lipolysis in the US Association. It is now known as the ‘Britney Injection’ due to the popularity of the treatment among American entertainers. The injection method does come with some disadvantages. In addition to the high cost, there have been many side effects associated with it such as severe pain due to improper usage. However, ACTIVE PPC is reasonably priced, lacks the side effects of the other method and produces similar results as the injection.
